Jesus says" it is easier for a camel to walk through the eye of a needle?
than for a rich man to enter Heaven. If America is a Christian nation, how do we reconcile that with the mad drive to obtain more than we’ll ever need as a national virtue?
poverty, sorry.
Clever Cheir but that’s not the point. Most of us just want more for mores sake - not for charity and not for anyones good but ourselves. Look at povert stats for proof compared to iPod and SUV sales.
You can’t take that HUGE SUV to your grave.

America is the most generous nation on earth.
Liberals try to ignore that bit.

We shouldn’t! It’s not a virtue in the least! Using our riches for the good of humankind, however, is. And not just some of our riches. Every last penny.

America is definitely no longer a christian nation anymore.
…unfortunately.

The answer is people pay lip service to what they think might get them brownie points just in case it is true, and then do what feels good in the here and now just in case it isn’t true.

Cue the person telling you that this refers to some gate in Jerusalem, while ignoring that no such gate is known to exist.

The rich have been condemned to Hell!

You have forgotten to mention the next two verses:
Matthew 19:25; ‘When the disciples heard this, they were very astonished and said, Then who can be saved? And looking at them Jesus said to them, With people this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.’
cheir | Oct 17, 2009
Jesus didn’t mean that all rich men will go to hell. He was using a metaphor to say that a rich man generally won’t give to the poor as much as he should. In America, we are encouraged to do good for ourselves and get a good education so that we can make a lot of money. It all depends on what you do with the money you make. Jesus talked about this when the rich men in the temple gave lots of silver to the poor, but the old woman only gave 2 cents. He claimed she was better than all of them because she gave all she had while the other men just gave whatever they wouldn’t miss. In today’s society, I believe giving all to the poor doesn’t necessarily mean giving all you own to the poor, but giving what you can and working with the poor. Sharing your time and talents can be just as good as giving money to the poor. Just my opinion.

Rich men go to hell?
I don’t think so except they making rich by steal, deceive or kill.
Do you think one who give smaller donation when compare with his property is a bad man and will go to hell?

Sure glad I’m not American… or rich. And I do not believe that the U.S. is a Christian nation. Your country has more atheists than any other country in the world.
